The true artist is never inspired by the desire to be artful, but the selfless use of a God-given ability to express an emotion or ideal is what makes a person a true artist.

hmm...i disagree a little. i think the artist in him makes him want to create something beautiful, something of art, which is pretty much expressing an emotion or ideal. you're right if you look at it like, "gee, i think i will make something people will admire and praise me for," but i think one can want to do the best he can to create a breathtaking masterpiece, simply with the desire to fill a person with emotion. i guess to answer this question, you would have to define "artful."
You should have studied in france...because of your philosophical spirit, seriously...I think a little bit like Danny. But it is true that main part of the artists do or use their talents in vain things...bu what about the people who uses it to be admired sometimes even in churches. I am not saying that every christian who has a gift is like it but I don t know what is worse ;Stay in your room playing a good score for yourself or go at church and play just to hear the people saying that you play well. But when you want to fill a person with emotion, this person will obviously think something about the way you play...is it the person s fault if they like what you do...I don t think so. A real artist may be anybody...A real CHRISTIAN artist, who knows that he has got a gift from God and wants to use it fo his glory, is a real artist too, but an artist who understands why he is so special...for God. He knows why he will improve his work and he knows where it goes, whereas a normal artist may be really good but if you speak with they will just tell you that they do it because they liked it and want to achieve the best. Tell me what you think, that is a good artistcal subject to talk about... Hope you liked NY. Fil.
