  •     Hello friends... I really should be working on my homework right now, but I wanted to tell you what God's been doing my life... Things have been good here and I'm starting to feel really sentimental... It's probably a combination of the caffeine and the mellow Jars of Clay tune ("Oh My God" from their new album) and the actual happenings of my life that are producing this emotion, but for whatever of it is unadulterated, I'd like to tell you how God is moving in my life.

I've found a small but honest group of Christ followers up here. Absolutely disfunctional, but sincere. I'm finding that it was more like that in San Antonio than I realized. I often never offered to other Christians in San Antonio, the grace Jesus offers, the grace I allow for myself.

Throughout the summer I was slowly making progress on a book called The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. It's a documentation of the Author's investigation of the historical accuracy of the New Testament, more specifically, the claims of the gospels. I've been greatly encouraged, and at a time or two, moved by this book and feel that it has served a suitable introduction for a class I'm taking up here called. "Jesus and the Origins of Christianity."

The class is an attempt to discover the purely historical truth of Jesus and the origins of Christianity. Some of the readings document the attempts of historians/theologians to separate a Christ Jesus from a naturalistic one. The difficulty arises in that there are no purely naturalistic gospels, so it is (in my opinion) impossible to give more or less authority to certain parts of the gospels. I'm super excited about this class, if not to discover more about Jesus (though I probably will), then to discover the psychology of those who disbelieve portions of the gospel and those who do believe the gospel accounts.

If you are interested in any of the material I'm studying for this class, I set up an email account at yahoo so that you can access the files I'm using for my classes. It's davesclassdocs@yahoo.com and the password
is documents. Just go to the inbox. Since this is a fairly unsecure method of sharing files, you should know that I will never send any emails from this account. So if you get one from there, it is not from me. If you get a mean email or anything, I didn't do it. But yeah, just got the inbox and there will be an email with my class files attached!

Much love! God bless! - Dave

Also, I would like to add that I was glad to have an update from Danny and Chelsea when I looked at my subscriptions... Thanks you guys, I appreciate it... ;O)

Oh, and one more thing... New song on my myspace! I'm excited about it! Check it out!
